This project consisted of the inspection of the Skylink People Mover Guideway
system at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The entire SkyLink People
Mover system is an elevated bridge approximately 4.8 miles in length.

The system
is composed of a variety of bridge structures including precast concrete
columns, bent caps and beams with supporting cast-in-place concrete; trapezoidal
steel beams, cast-in-place concrete columns, and cast-in-place concrete deck;
and twin steel girders to support both the Skylink station structural framing
and the Skylink guideway.

This project consisted of inspections over both the Airport Operations Area (AOA)
and the non- Airport Operations Area (Landside). Close coordination with Airport
Operations was required at all times. Axiom M&E preformed the initial Bridge
Inventory, Inspection and Appraisal Program (BRINSAP) level inspection, as
developed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and in accordance
with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS). |
